Modern design and timeless tradition – an attractive couple

The exceptional ambience of an exceptional hotel!

Following the extensive renovation phases – all during the late autumn months of the last few years – our AIM with the Theresia Gartenhotel****Superior was to present the new, modern Austria – but without renouncing the traditional roots of the family and the region!

The new THERESIA GARTENHOTEL****Superior
is not intended to be a neo-rustic hotel in “gingerbread style” or “Alpine Baroque”, but a beautiful Austrian holiday hotel which will surprise and delight you, where guests with high demands in terms of design, art, authentic tradition and the associated sense of well-being can unwind from the stresses of everyday life.
And finally the renovated building reflects the totally personal taste of the Brettermeier family, who own it.

Together with our Vienna-based architect, Gustav Pichelmann, and his and our team of employees,  we are really looking forward to this event: the ARCHITECTURE GUIDE TO THE PROVINCE OF SALZBURG ‘Baukunst in Salzburg seit 1980’ [Architecture in Salzburg since 1980] will be published again in September 2010 after 30 years by the ‘Initiative Architektur’ and describes 130 properties in the provincial capital and 125 in the region from single family homes to listed city palaces and industrial complexes.  Our Hotel Theresia is one of 26 properties in Pinzgau to be listed (and the only building in the entire Glemmtal valley) and has an entire page of text and images dedicated to it: “... ‘old’ and ‘new’ are amalgamated in different quantities and developed further based on a friendly and resource-saving process instead of a rigid ideology of renewal.”

After December 2003 when the entire ground floor of the Gartenhotel radiated “designer hotel” style, following a further renovation phase in November 2004 ten splendid designer rooms awaited guests along with fully redesigned “bath oases” in all 2- and 3-room suites; in addition the staircase, the corridors on all floors and the entire basement underwent comprehensive renovation.
Finally since November 2005 all the bathrooms have gleamed with their unusual materials, elegant design and pleasant feel-good atmosphere!
The 2- and 3-room suites look inspirational in their new modern designer outfit.
At the same time the entire indoor wellness area (indoor swimming pool and sauna world) underwent an extensive facelift – in line with the new design of the Gartenhotel.
By the way: The cosy “Zirbenstube” restaurant and the traditionally furnished bed/sitting rooms and family suites (“Zwölferkogel” and “Gaisstein” with hand-painted country furniture and brightly coloured fabrics in warm, sunny shades) and the light 3-room “Alpengarten” suite on the attic floor, which is very popular with many regular guests with its rustic antique timbered ceiling, naturally remain untouched – in accordance with our conviction that “MODERN DESIGN and TIMELESS TRADITION” go together wonderfully well.

December 2006:
“Gallery of modern and contemporary art” – also suitable for small seminars, as a meeting room or as an unusual, intimate setting for birthdays, wedding anniversaries or other special occasions.
The hotel lounge contains 2 new open fireplaces – designed in the untreated black shale of this region, to make it even cosier, but also more stylish.
In the adjoining building, the Aparthotel, all 10 holiday apartments have been renovated.

December 2007:
4 penthouse suites furnished in a sophisticated purist style – luxurious holiday accommodation for two people with the highest standards, and two designer single rooms or smaller doubles (approx. 25 m²) which can be connected with a penthouse suite to form a larger apartment.
In the Aparthotel all 10 guest rooms and the bar have been renovated, and a new restaurant has been created.

2007 + 2008:
Apart from all the above activities to renovate the hotel facilities, which are visually discernible and apparent to our guests, in 2007 and 2008 we have also made substantial investments in sustainable environmental and resource conservation measures.

November 2008:
New design for the wellness centre:
All 6 treatment rooms have been restyled along with the winter garden, and the meditation and serenity pyramid.

November 2009:
With the new luxurious, designer style 80 m² 3-room “Sonnspitz” penthouse suite, the hotel now has 5 penthouse suites for 2 to a maximum of 6 people.
The panorama fitness studio, which is flooded with light, has had a facelift (on the 1st floor of the Gartenhotel) with ultramodern Technogym fitness equipment.
