Saalbach-Hinterglemm is situated 1.050 m above sea level; the highest mountain in the valley is the Gaisstein - at 2336m. It´s also the highest "grass mountain" in Central Europe.
There are 400km of marked, well-tended hiking routes and trails for safe hiking.
In summer, 4 cablecars will take you to the main mountains : the Schattberg cable car, Kohlmais cable car, Zwölferkogel cable car and the Reiterkogel cable car.

Life in Saalbach-Hinterglemm
A brand new challenge awaits all those who are in good physical condition, are sure-footed and experienced mountain hikers: "The SEVEN SUMMITS of Saalbach Hinterglemm". This nearly 24-kilometer long hiking tour over the highest summits of the Glemmtal, with truly alpine character and a huge 1,413 meters of altitude, is a tour for the tried-and-tested individualists who are physically fit mountaineers.
The start of "The Seven Summits of Saalbach Hinterglemm" Tour is easily reached by the cable car Schattberg xPress. The well marked path leads from Stemmerkogel over Hochkogel to the most difficult climb of the tour - the Hochsaalbachkogel. The tour continues over Bärensteigkogel, Manlitz- and Mittagskogel to the final highlight and highest peak of the Glemmvalley, the Geißstein with 2.363 m.

the tour should only be started well equipped, with sufficient food and
water in the backbag and planning concerning weather or alternative
options of descents.
What's the 7 SUMMITS Tour like?
IMPORTANT: Before you start, make sure that you have collected your SEVEN SUMMITS Chip at the cash desk or lift staff of the Schattberg X-Press. You can only log into the summit terminals with a chip!
The tour will take you to your limits: Please bring two complete meals, additionally bananas/bars etc. and 4 litres of water with you. Running shoes (or similar) are not suitable!
The start of the Seven Summits Tour is easily reached by the cable car Schattberg xPress. Early run of the Schattberg X-Press from Mon. - Fri. from 7.30 h to 7.40 h.
Important info concerning the early run: You must have a valid cable car ticket (or a JOKER CARD, etc.) to go with the early run. If you need to buy a single ticket, please purchase it on the day before, as the cash desk won’t be opened that early.
